I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with SVP Jason Oxman on a new program that CEA recently launched — Tech Enthusiast Membership.

At the CES NYC press event we had a wonderful opportunity to speak with Jennifer Brace – User Interface Engineer at Ford Motor. We sat down with Jennifer to speak about the 2012 Ford Focus. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the Focus also has MyFord Touch.

Let’s listen in on Jennifer as she explains some of the best features of the MyFord Touch.

What if you paid for your Internet access as if it were a utility bill?

This is what Mr. Randall Stephenson, AT&T Chairman and Chief Executive Officer has confirmed. Stephenson made this comment during his keynote webcast at the Morgan Stanley Conference this past Tuesday.

For the industry, we’ll progressively move towards more of what I call variable pricing, so the heavy [-use] consumers will pay more than the lower consumers,” Stephenson said in the webcast of the meeting.

I was invited to a private Project Natal sneak peek. The event was held at the beautiful EZ Studios in New York City. I met with a member Project Natal product team. She gave us a brief explanation of the Natal vision and gave us only a few technical details:

• RBG camera
• depth camera
• Current games will not be compatible with Natal

January starts off 2010 with much excitement and anticipation. January 7th is the start of the Computer Electronics Show (CES). This is where vendors like Nikon will present their CoolPix S1000pj. January 26th Apple will be making a significant product announcement. It has been greatly speculated that Jobs will be announcing the long anticipated iSlate. Lastly, it has just been reported by ComputerWorld that on January 5th, Google will be holding an Android, invitation-only, event. The event will consist of  a press conference, presentations and question and answer sessions.

Some in the industry are speculating if Schmidt is purposely holding the Google conference right before CES. This is a similar move to what Jobs did in 2007 – when he announced the iPhone right before CES. In essence, the iPhone became all the talk at CES 2007.  I think that Schmidt is a smart man. This very well calculated move worked for Jobs and Schmidt is hoping it will do the same for the Nexus One.

It is still uncertian what Google will be presenting on January 5th. The speculation runs their entire portfolio – from the Nexus One to the Android Market Place to the Google Chrome OS netbook. Whatever, happens on the 5th one thing is certain - it will be all the talk at CES 2010.

I heard about Powermat during CES this year. They introduced wireless charging plus over a dozen other products at the Las Vegas show. The wireless charger is a collaboration between Michigan based HoMedics and New York based PowerMat. The company explains that you will have no more tangled cords and no need to go searching for that adapter. Why, because you will simply place the enabled device on the Powermat to charge. The Powermat will wirelessly charge your iPhone, BlackBerry, MP3 players, digital cameras and GPS devices – to just name a few.

At this point, you are most likely asking yourself “so how does it wirelessly charge my device?” In short, wireless charging happens magnetically. If you are a geek and I know you are – this is Powermat’s official explanation ”Powermat utilizes principles of magnetic induction combined with Powermat proprietary patent-pending technology to safely and effectively provide power to electronic devices. Powermat transforms surfaces including walls, tables, floors and desktops into safe, simple, and efficient conductors of energy. It replaces the need to access multiple electrical sockets for real-time powering and charging of electronic devices.” Additionally, you can charge your devices either with the included “PowerCube” or with a dedicated receiver for your most used devices, like your cell phone.

So it goes without saying that the Powermat is a very cool device and it stands to make our busy lives just a little less busy. I don’t think that the devices are too expensive:

• Dedicated Receivers – $29.99 – $39.99

So I am recommending that this is a must have for those busy dads – that have a few devices and are always losing that charger.
