This is most certainly the year of controllerless experience. Sony fired the first shot when the company released the Move on September 19th. The company and game developers have quickly released a number of Move inspired games. Below, I have listed what I believe are the top five games for the Sony PS3 Move.

The Shoot

This is simply a fun game for most of the family. The first person shooter moves you through a series of cheesy movie sets. The sets are populated by cardboard cut-out villains and civilians. I highly recommend that you pick up the Playstation Move Shooting Attachment.

Amazon

Price: $39.99

Highly destructible environments that can be shot away to expose enemies, secret power-ups, bonus items and deleted scenes

ESRB Rating: Teen

The Fight: Lights Out

I have never been in an underground bare-knuckle fight but this title places you square in that environment. You have some time to train with the infamous Danny Trejo. Not for nothing even as a title character Trejo is rather intimidating.

Amazon

Price: $39.99

Unleash a wide arsenal of brutal attacks — start simple with punches and uppercuts before amping up the intensity with headlocks and overhand blows

ESRB Rating: Teen

DanceDance Revolution

This title is most certainly does not accentuate my positives — I have no rhythm. DDR is a bundle so it comes with a PS3 Master Dance Pad. The title is a great party game and it’s suitable for everyone.

Amazon

Price: $69.99

Record yourself and upload to YouTube and Facebook through to share with friends

ESRB: Everyone 10+

Sports Champions

This is the game that first introduced me to the Sony Move. Sports Champions come with six games — Disc Golf, Gladiator Duel, Beach Volleyball, Archery, Table Tennis and Bocce. My personal favorite is Gladiator Duel. Being able to wield a massive battle-ax brings me back to the days when I use to play Dungeons & Dragons.

Amazon

Price: $39.99

Champion Cup Mode: Compete in the bronze, silver, and gold cups to unlock hundreds of prizes and become the ultimate sports champion.

ESRB: Everyone 10+

Singstar Party Pack

This is another great party game. Singstar reminds of a really good karaoke night with friends and family. If you have family and friends over the house often then this is simply a must have game.

Amazon

Price: $39.99

Includes: SingStar Dance game, SingStar microphones and SingStar USB converter

ESRB: Everyone 10+

Looking at Sony gaming for 2011

Zev Green and I were invited to the Sony PS3 holiday preview in New York City — last week. We where able to get our hands on the Killzone 3 branded PlayStation sharp shooter gun. It was a great experience. Unfortunately, the audio is a bit tough to hear during the Killzone 3 conversation but you will get the gist. We also were given a demo of Motorstorm Apocalypse by Game Director Matt Southern. The 3D experience was absolutely incredible.

Zev Green and I shot over to the Sony Playstation headquarters in NYC for an industry event. The night was filled with food, drinks, professional dancers, Sony product managers and lots of games. We played a number of Move games but our two favorite had to be “The Shoot” and “The Fight.” We also had the opportunity to play “The Fight” in 3D — that experience was rather incredible.

For me “The Fight” demonstrated what the Sony Move is capable of. The action is not only fast-paced but accurate; as well. There was small learning curve — due to combination moves but the game is very intuitive and intense. I played a few rounds with Jessie Nuez and Zev — at the end of the night we walked out of Sony feeling rather sore.

In between, game play Zev caught up to Jill Webber, PR Relations Manager for Sony Entertainment. Check out his interview below.

Sony was gracious enough to lend us a PlayStation 3 Move, Bravia TV, and PlayStation 3 Surround Sound System for the weekend so we could see how people with different skill levels liked the gaming experience.

Without exaggeration, not only was the PS3 Move a tremendous hit, but a perfect example of how interactive gaming can bring groups together, be incredibly fun, and make them social events.

We’ll be doing a more in-depth review of the console, some of the games that are/will be released, and how families can best use the PS3 very soon.

You can pick up the Sony PS3 Move Game Console Bundle (PS3 320GB console, camera, controller, and Sports Champion) for $399, or the PlayStation Move Bundle (camera, controller, and Sports Champion) for $99.

This is the first of several videos. Our apologies for the low lighting. Here’s a tip, a bright background is not a friendly background (when filming)! Check back to see our next installment.

I am not talking about your kids throwing Wii remotes at it, or spouses sabotaging your inputs just in time for Sunday football, or not having any juice left in your rechargeable Logitech Harmony Remote, or even those tiny little fingerprints on the screen that make you go coo coo for cocoa puffs. I am talking about the endless barrage of hardware media devices.

Devices like the D-Link Boxee Box, the Syabas Technology Popcorn Hour, the Roku Player, AppleTV, Blu-ray players, Microsoft XBox 360, Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii, audio systems, Sonos ZonePlayer, Tivo, and other Cable/Verizon Fios/Satellite appliances. Whew! I need an entire circuit breaker just for my TV, and I still have a problem getting all of my content the way I want.
