So Zev and I are heading to the Electronic Arts press event, tomorrow. As I mention in previously the presentation will be hosted by EA COO Peter Moore. He will be featuring product news and announcements. Then, we will be able to take a look at some EA titles, which will be available in the upcoming months. Here is that list from EA:

So I was contacted by 2k Games yesterday and asked if I would not mind taking a sneak peek of Spec Ops: The Line. I thought about the question for exactly 1 second and yelled, “Yes!”

Today, I am heading up to the London Hotel to meet up with some folks from 2k Games. I am also hoping that folks from Yager Development will be there as well. And I don’t mean that in a bad way — I think the staff at 2k Games are rather awesome but there is nothing better than speaking with the developers of a game.

I don’t have any assets to post in this article but I did run across the official E3 Spec Ops: The Line trailer. The gameplay looks rather tight and the sound track is awesome. When speaking with one of the 2k Games representatives, he told me:

Think of it like SOCOM but with a much more intense story… that really has the player asking themselves if they are doing the right thing or the wrong thing.

No, tell me it ain’t so — a game with morals

I am very excited that we just got invited to an Electronic Arts event — SPOTLIGHT EA in NYC! Presenting will be EA COO Peter Moore featuring product news and announcements. The press event is being held on February 7th at the historical Edison Ballroom.

This is the schedule:

We will also see new titles from EA Mobile, PopCap, Playfish and Chillingo. I am also excited to catch a glimpse of Mass Effects 3. The trailer looks awesome. My least favorite game would be the Sims. I have never been a fan of the Sims franchise but I am always curious to see what’s new.

This is most certainly the year of controllerless experience. Sony fired the first shot when the company released the Move on September 19th. The company and game developers have quickly released a number of Move inspired games. Below, I have listed what I believe are the top five games for the Sony PS3 Move.

The Shoot

This is simply a fun game for most of the family. The first person shooter moves you through a series of cheesy movie sets. The sets are populated by cardboard cut-out villains and civilians. I highly recommend that you pick up the Playstation Move Shooting Attachment.

• Highly destructible environments that can be shot away to expose enemies, secret power-ups, bonus items and deleted scenes

The Fight: Lights Out

I have never been in an underground bare-knuckle fight but this title places you square in that environment. You have some time to train with the infamous Danny Trejo. Not for nothing even as a title character Trejo is rather intimidating.

DanceDance Revolution

This title is most certainly does not accentuate my positives — I have no rhythm. DDR is a bundle so it comes with a PS3 Master Dance Pad. The title is a great party game and it’s suitable for everyone.

Sports Champions

This is the game that first introduced me to the Sony Move. Sports Champions come with six games — Disc Golf, Gladiator Duel, Beach Volleyball, Archery, Table Tennis and Bocce. My personal favorite is Gladiator Duel. Being able to wield a massive battle-ax brings me back to the days when I use to play Dungeons & Dragons.

Singstar Party Pack

Looking at Sony gaming for 2011

Zev Green and I were invited to the Sony PS3 holiday preview in New York City — last week. We where able to get our hands on the Killzone 3 branded PlayStation sharp shooter gun. It was a great experience. Unfortunately, the audio is a bit tough to hear during the Killzone 3 conversation but you will get the gist. We also were given a demo of Motorstorm Apocalypse by Game Director Matt Southern. The 3D experience was absolutely incredible.

Zev Green and I shot over to the Sony Playstation headquarters in NYC for an industry event. The night was filled with food, drinks, professional dancers, Sony product managers and lots of games. We played a number of Move games but our two favorite had to be “The Shoot” and “The Fight.” We also had the opportunity to play “The Fight” in 3D — that experience was rather incredible.

For me “The Fight” demonstrated what the Sony Move is capable of. The action is not only fast-paced but accurate; as well. There was small learning curve — due to combination moves but the game is very intuitive and intense. I played a few rounds with Jessie Nuez and Zev — at the end of the night we walked out of Sony feeling rather sore.

Zev Mo (@ZevMo) from Dads on Tech gets an amazing opportunity to speak with Warren Spector (Creative Director, Junction Point – Disney Interactive Studios) about his new game title, Disney Epic Mickey.

Disney Epic Mickey is an upcoming Mickey Mouse video game designed by Warren Spector, with 2D cinemas by Powerhouse Animation Studios, Inc. and developed by Junction Point Studios for the Wii console, using Emergent Game Technologies’ Gamebryo Engine.

Sony was gracious enough to lend us a PlayStation 3 Move, Bravia TV, and PlayStation 3 Surround Sound System for the weekend so we could see how people with different skill levels liked the gaming experience.

Without exaggeration, not only was the PS3 Move a tremendous hit, but a perfect example of how interactive gaming can bring groups together, be incredibly fun, and make them social events.

We’ll be doing a more in-depth review of the console, some of the games that are/will be released, and how families can best use the PS3 very soon.
