So Zev and I love TV’s and yes — it must be a guy thing. We have a buddy that recently purchased a 70″ TV and I just purchased a 60″ Sharp smart TV. We also reviewed the Toshiba 47TL515U 47-inch Natural 3D. Now while we liked the TV — we felt that 3D is an over-rated feature. I think that we will see less marketing about 3D features in 2012.

This year will be all about the smart TV. Why — because of the laundry list of apps like, Twitter, Pandora, Netflix, Vudu, etc. Additionally, we will see more LED TVs and OLED TVs which will drive down the purchase price. Smart TV conversion kits will also be prevalent, in 2012. We will also see a trend in very thin TVs thanks to the OLED technology.

And super-HD will also be seen more this year. These TVs will come in three flavors — 2K, 4K and 8K. We are talking massive resolution here — from 2448×1080 on the 2K to 7680×4320 on the 8K. Unfortunately, that massive resolution comes at a rather steep price point.

My hopes are the we will see an iTV from Apple this year. And hopefully we will see more gesture-driven TVs — think Xbox Kinect built into your TV.

Unfortunately, I suffer from sleep apnea and I know of a number of friends that also suffer from this condition. I have read a number of  reports that indicate — Americans are not only sleep deficient but over stimulated. This stimulation comes in the form of caffeinated drinks and sugar.

So instead of getting a good nights rest we simply go for a quick fix and caffeinate or grab a chocolate bar. Instead, we should all be taking an active roll in our sleep health. Sleep, is one of the most important factors in being and staying healthy. But how do you make certain that you are sleeping well — do you tell your mom, spouse, dog, boyfriend or girlfriend to watch you as you sleep? That might not be the best option and a bit odd

So yesterday Verizon Wireless reached out to me about their new service – Usage Controls. The service is rather useful and it expands the features that are being introduced in the Parental Control Center and Verizon Safeguards. I commend Verizon for creating a set of services – Usage Controls, Family Locator, Content Filters, Time Restrictions and Trusted Numbers — which help parents provide a safer digital experience for our kids.

Here are a few of the new features:

• Block calls and messages to and from up to 20 numbers of your choosing
• Block calls to 411 Directory Assistance
• Block incoming calls from numbers listed as private, restricted or unavailable
• Create a list of up to 20 trusted numbers (mobile or landline)

Again all good features — but what is upsetting is the fact that Verizon’s Usage Controls is $4.95 per month per-line. Not for nothing but this is a feature aimed at families and $4.99 per line is a bit expensive. I am simply tired of mobile operators billing a family as if they were separate accounts. To add insult to the monthly injury — the actors in the commercial are delighted that the new service is only $4.99.

And to add more oil to the fire — I commented about my displeasure on Verizon’s YouTube Channel, yesterday afternoon (about 5-ish EST). Well, I would have you know that Verizon moderates their channel. Yes, in order for your comment to be posted on Verizon’s YouTube Channel — Verizon must first approve the comment.

As of this post, Verizon has 96 videos up on their YouTube Channel. I checked a random handful (about 20) of video’s and oddly enough — the comments are few and the majority are positive. Are they filtering comments — I really don’t know and I hope not.

In any event, my comment is now up on Verizon’s Channel — I am just curious why did it take 17 hours?

So Zev and I are heading to the Electronic Arts press event, tomorrow. As I mention in previously the presentation will be hosted by EA COO Peter Moore. So Jessie Nuez just got the 2012 Honda CR-V EX-L and in her own words:

She is silver and she is very pretty!

Honda dropped off an urban titanium metallic, CR-V EX-L with navigation. We will be test driving the CR-V for about a week. We’ve made plans for a road trip or two so we can get a good feel for the SUV. Jessie already has a head-start since she drove the 2012, last year.

Honda invited Jessie to San Diego to take an early test drive. The car company wanted to get first impressions from a number of outlets and bloggers. Jessie liked the redesign and while she did like the dual info screens – it took her sometime to appreciate them.

So I was contacted by 2k Games yesterday and asked if I would not mind taking a sneak peek of Spec Ops: The Line. I thought about the question for exactly 1 second and yelled, “Yes!”

Today, I am heading up to the London Hotel to meet up with some folks from 2k Games. I am also hoping that folks from Yager Development will be there as well. And I don’t mean that in a bad way — I think the staff at 2k Games are rather awesome but there is nothing better than speaking with the developers of a game.

I don’t have any assets to post in this article but I did run across the official E3 Spec Ops: The Line trailer. The gameplay looks rather tight and the sound track is awesome. When speaking with one of the 2k Games representatives, he told me:

Think of it like SOCOM but with a much more intense story… that really has the player asking themselves if they are doing the right thing or the wrong thing.

Well, all I can say is that I am super excited to check out the game play. I will keep you guys (and gals) posted.

So Zev and I had already reviewed the Kogeto Dot, a few weeks ago. I contacted the company to let them know that we reviewed their product. Since we never really physically had the Dot — Kogeto was kind enough to send us a review unit.

It was perfect timing, since Zev was heading down to Florida on vacation. So he took the Dot with him and Zev had fun with it.

A few days ago Zev Green tells me about this new webcam that we must review on DadsOnTech. I took a quick look at it and said, “So let’s get a review unit from Logitech.” The company was more than happy to send over the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920.

So I am a little over 2 weeks away from test driving the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. I was just contacted by Chevrolet to confirm delivery — yep I am all set. So what will I do when I get the Equinox, you ask? Well, what I normally do is go on a road trip with the family. Last year when I reviewed OnStar’s FMV (For My Vehicle) we headed up to Sleepy Hollow. The trip was fun and the FMV did a rather nice job in getting us around.

So I have been speaking to my wife and we are just trying to narrow it down. I am excited to take the Equinox for a ride. The crossover looks very nice and I am curious to see how the integrated OnStar setup behaves.

Unfortunately, I am not a big football fan. I mean, I will watch a game if there is nothing else better to watch. Yep, I know I am in the minority, on this one. But I do have a bit of exciting news to share about football – Super Bowl XLVI will be streamed live.

Yes, you read that correctly — for the first time ever the Super Bowl will be streamed live. Unfortunately, the streaming content will not be available to just anyone — only to smartphones on the Verizon Wireless network. To have access to Super Bowl XLVI you must download the Verizon NFL Mobile app. I am told that the stream will even include replays of popular ads and include additional camera angles.

According to Verizon these are the conditions:

Verizon Video monthly access fee waived for NFL Mobile during 2011-2012 NFL Season on 4G smartphones. Video subscription required for video content on all non-4G smartphones. Message & data rates may apply for app download & use. Available on select smartphones. Coverage not available everywhere.

I bet you wish you would have bought that Motorola Droid Bionic, when you had a chance.

In any event, this is huge for consumers because a major sports company — the NFL — is allowing content to be streamed to multiple digital platforms. And if you are a non-Verizon customer, you can still watch the game online at – NFL.com or NBCSports.com.
